Nope, not left yet.
I'm sitting in a mad Turkish wifi cafe in Dalston (free wifi!) getting wired on coffee, eating humus, sending my last few emails and desperately trying to sort out some accommodation for when I land on Sunday night in Sydney. Oops. Didn't realise there was so much to do before you emigrate. Might list it all one day for someone else's benefit (if I ever get the time.)
Had a lovely day today. Went to the Inland Revenue to alert them to the fact that I won't be paying tax in the UK for 3 years (what fun) then wandered round the Aladdin's cave that is Cath Kidston (www.cathkidston.co.uk) to spend the vouchers that my lovely BFI chums got me as a leaving present (thank you so much folks - my all time favourite shop!). Totally spoilt for choice, I ended up getting a red weekend bag (great for my hand luggage) plus some other bits and bobs - I'll take some pictures of them 'in action' at the airport or something and upload them when I get to Oz.
Apart from that, I've been saying lots of goodbyes, packing in a futile attempt to remain under my meagre luggage allowance, and looking forward to spending two days cooped up in Economy class. At least I'm not flying with Chinaflot or whatever they're called (good luck Dom, see you when you land!)
My new boss called me today and offered to meet me at the airport, but I politely declined, in case I land with cabin fever and she things I'm insane and sends me on the first flight back to the UK. Think I need a day to recover, so am meeting her for coffee on Tuesday instead. First official day at work is Wednesday. Wish me luck!
Well that's all for now. Will write more interesting stuff when in the land of Oz.
